What is the Film Grain Overlay(FGO) technique?
Film grain overlay (FGO), is a process in which film emulsion characteristics are overlaid using different levels of opacity onto a video.
Why use holygrain and the FGO technique?
In short, digital cameras tend to produce very sterile images. Filmmmakers, editors and colorists trust our plates to give an organic filmi look to their digital productions. Compositors, also use our grain library to integrate cgi objects into live scenes.
Do you offer real film grain?
Our film grain is from real film scans that have been processed digitally. We have removed vignettes, dirt and we made them suitable for compositing and seamless looping.
Is holygrain compatible with my Editing, Color Grading or VFX application?
Holygrain is compatible with nearly every professional editing, visual effects, compositing, color correction application including Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, BlackMagic Davinci Resolve, Sony Vegas and other NLEs that support “blend/composite” modes.
Does holygrain affect the colors or the luminance of my video?
No, holygrain’s plates do not affect the colors and luminance of your video unlike other film grain plates.
Why the film grain plates are only 25 seconds each? My video is longer.
The grain plates are designed for seamless looping. Adjust the first plate and copy-paste it, until the whole clip is covered with film grain.
Is the looping observable when using the dirt plates?
No, unless your material is incredibly boring. It’s 1 minute of random randomness flashing randomly in your screen. And then you can rotate it, mirror it, cut it and mix it. Not every part of film is damaged the same way. With the Dirt Pack, the options are unlimited. 16 dirt plates of 1min + 1 essential dirt plate running for 5 minutes! Please also note that the film grain plates are clean. The film dirt is placed on top of the film grain in order to allow maximum compositing freedom.

How to access my downloads?
All products are available for instant download. After the transaction, the payment processor notifies our system. Can I re-download my purchases?
The download links are valid for seven days from the date of the order. After this period, a standard processing fee for re-downloads is charged. Please make sure to store the files in your computer.
